The legendary trio De La Soul has taken the crowd-funding route to create their first studio album since 2004’s The Grind Date. The album will be made from sampling original recordings from De La Soul and the Rhythm Roots All-Stars exclusively. So, no lawsuits. They’ve already got some collaborators on the project, including Damon Albarn (of Blur/Gorillaz), 2 Chainz, Little Dragon, and David Byrne (of Talking Heads) with more collaborations to be announced as they happen.
The kickstarter is seeking $110,000 and has raised almost $72k of that already. If you want to contribute, or just want to read more about the project. Check them out here. Consider us excited.
Action Bronson’s Mr Wonderful has been receiving mixed reviews, due in large part to the amount (or lack thereof) of rapping on the project. whether you love it or hate it, Action and Alchemist will be hitting the road in April to tour for the project. Check out the current dates below, but expect more to be added.
Why the fuck do people do this? While performing in Glasgow, Scotland — an audience member decided to hurl a bottle of (presumably) water at the rapper on stage. Danny is seen storming off, and despite cheers from the crowd, does not return to finish his set. Hopefully they found the guy responsible, and he received his just dues.
Young Dolph drops a new version of his Pulled Up track, that will live on his upcoming album. Stunt.
